Description
Moersch MT4 Siena Polysulfide Toner
The MT4 Siena Sulfide Toner is a versatile toner that allows you to achieve warm brown to red-yellow tones in your black and white photographs during direct toning. It is particularly useful for fine-tuning colors between yellow and blue after polychrome development using lith and Siena developers.
Key Features:
- Warm Brown to Red-Yellow Tones: Achieve a range of warm tones in your black and white prints.
- Direct and Indirect Toning: Can be used for both direct toning (after polychrome development) and indirect toning (after bleaching).
- High Shelf Life and Capacity: The diluted solution remains stable for several months, even at dilutions as high as 1+30.
How it Works:
The MT4 Siena Sulfide Toner works by chemically converting the silver grains in your black and white print to achieve the desired warm tones. The toner is particularly effective at adjusting colors between yellow and blue tones obtained during polychrome development.
Direct Toning:
- After completing the polychrome development process (lith and Siena developer), apply the MT4 Sienna Sulfide Toner directly to your black and white print.
- The toning time will vary depending on the desired color and the dilution of the toner solution. It is recommended to monitor the toning process carefully and adjust the toning time accordingly.
Indirect Toning:
- Bleach your black and white print to a weak level.
- Apply the MT4 Sienna Sulfide Toner. The bleached areas will take on a reddish-yellow tone after toning.
Tips:
- Always test the toner on a small scrap of paper before applying it to your entire print.
- Wear gloves and eye protection when handling photographic chemicals.
- The toner’s effectiveness can be slightly reduced when used for high-volume processing (more than 50 prints 24 × 30 per liter at 1+20 dilution). This may result in a slower toning process and a slight color shift towards a purer yellow tone. In such cases, the toner can be regenerated by adding a small amount of alkali or concentrated toner solution. This toner should only be used in rooms with good ventilation or, alternatively, outdoors!
